I’ve been a fan of sourdough my entire life. If I go anywhere and sourdough is a bread choice, you know that I will be picking that. Being from California, I’ve had the pleasure of trying some of the tastiest. freshest varieties of sourdough. Something about our air seems to make some of the best sourdough around. I’ve always had the ambition to catch wild yeasts and create my own sourdough starter, but with my life lately the phrase “ain’t nobody got time for that!” comes to mind more and more.Continue Reading

Every day that I pick my daughter up from school and we walk through the front door, the first thing she says to me is “Can I have a snack?”. Sound familiar? And then there is me, loaded with her school work, and backpack, my purse and my bags from the day I feel pretty overwhelmed with the request and huff, “Can I put everything down first?”.Continue Reading
Yesterday I posted a recipe for my favorite biscuits, Fluffy Cream Biscuits from The Flying Biscuit Cafe in Atlanta. I mentioned how my husband loves them covered and smothered in my Sage Sausage Gravy, so I wanted to share my recipe, so you can devour these at your next sit down breakfast.
When I used to live in Atlanta, there was this little breakfast spot we always used to go to called The Flying Biscuit. We would wait in long lines just to get our hands on those biscuits (and the grits, but that’s another post). Fluffy, creamy, delicious, hot and fresh. In other words, heaven in 5 bites. Either loaded up with butter and jam, or topped with thick country gravy, those things were to die for. When I decided to move back home, it was that southern food I knew I would miss the most, so I grabbed a Flying Biscuit Cookbook and hit the road.
I participated in an Ambassador Program on behalf of Influence Central for P.A.N. Cornmeal. I received product samples as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation. #PANFan

Can I just pause for a second and tell you that I can’t even pretend food is just for sustenance. Food is so much more to me and as much as I hate what the term has become, I totally identify as “a foodie”. Food is a journey, a destination, and an experience. I love the salty with the sweet, the hot with the cool and creamy, the indulgent and the simplistic. I love to try new things, and new pairings and expand my umami so to speak. I’ve often talked to so many people about my intense love for Fried Chicken and Waffles and gotten looks of disgust and complete and utter confusion, but to me, any breakfast food, any time, sounds like a party.Continue Reading
I’m obsessed with breakfast lately! Probably because I am getting sick of the regular old “Bacon and Eggs” that we seem to have every Sunday. And ever since my Fruity Pebbles Waffles post, I’ve been trying to utilize my Waffle Maker a lot more. If you don’t currently own a Waffle Maker, because you don’t believe you would use it enough, let me show you a cool new way to make cinnamon rolls and see if I can change your mind.Continue Reading
Day two of my Grilled Cheese Week is all about breakfast! Woo! I am a HUGE fan of breakfast, and I love sweet breakfast the most. French Toast, Waffles, Pancakes, you name it! I love it all. I knew that I wanted to do a sweet grilled cheese amongst all the savory ones this week, because sweet grilled cheese sounds amazing! So I came up with a Strawberry Grilled Cream Cheese Sandwich! Plus it’s sort of just fun and different, and could be used as a fun dessert as well. I like switching it up when it comes to food and recipes – if you haven’t noticed.Continue Reading
Some of my fondest memories with my dad were holiday breakfasts. He used to always do it up really fancy for us kids to make us feel really special. And as we guzzled down our meal, he would say “It does my heart good to see you kids eat.” It wasn’t, of course, until I had kids that I could truly understand his sentiment on the subject of watching your kids scarf down a healthy meal and enjoy themselves. One of my favorite things my dad used to make were waffles. I loved helping him make the batter, prep the waffle iron and watch the steam rise. These Fruity Pebble and Banana Belgian Waffles are of course a little over my father’s skill set, but I think he would have enjoyed watching his grand kids scarf them down.
