When it comes to fall recipes, some people are pumpkin spice people. Lattes, cookies, pies, whatever – everything pumpkin spice, all the time. Then there are the apple people.
I am an apple person.Continue Reading
It’s been one of those days, y’all. The kind where you look at the clock and what you’ve gotten accomplished and wonder what happened. I had such high hopes for today, finish my daughter’s Halloween costume for Disneyland, clean the kitchen, do some laundry. Don’t even get me started on what’s for dinner…
Possibly the best thing about Halloween, after getting to dress up as awesome things, are mini sized versions of your favorite candies. I am such a sucker for teeny tiny Twix Bars and baby Snickers, I can’t even tell you.
Come on now.
But around here, we like to do it up a bit. We like to take the normal and make it a little extra epic, a little extra fancy, a little more, dare I say it? Like whoa? So I have come up with the perfect little Halloween treat to go along with all of your parties, and events and play dates and even those late night Monster Movie Marathons all during the month of October. Are you ready for this?Continue Reading
It’s officially fall! Yay! It’s about time right? It seemed like summer would never end. Fall just screams sweaters, boots, trips to the pumpkin patch, scarves and pretty much all things caramel and pumpkin spice. You know, basic white girl stuff.
But this caramel corn? It’s anything but basic. It’s heavenly. It’s sweet and salty and lightly spiced and it’s pretty much the most fantastic thing you could ever want to devour and let your guilt blow away in the rustling leave of fall. You know why? Because fall, that’s why.Continue Reading

Can you believe summer is almost over? I’m excited for Abbey to start preschool this fall, but I am sort of bummed that the season of the grill is coming to an end. It’s technically grill season most of the year here in San Diego, but we get the most bang out of our BBQ from May to September. Lots of burgers, steaks, chicken and the most valuable player: the hot dog.Continue Reading
Here’s a fun story for today… I once made this dip for a family BBQ. I brought it, and told no one what it was other than “Cookie Dough Dip” and served it with some graham crackers. At first my cousins were hesitant, but eventually they dived in and before long the bowl was clean. Everyone wanted the recipe and when I told them the “secret ingredient” they all were totally shocked. They couldn’t believe that cookie dough could be “healthy”.
A similar thing happened while I was preparing this to share with you all. My daughter was hanging around the kitchen, watching me make this dip. It looked a lot like cookie dough, it tasted a lot like cookie dough, but she was hesitant. I let her lick the spoon, and her eyes got wide and she grinned from ear to ear. I handed her an apple slice with a big scoop and she devoured it! She wanted her own bowl, she wanted to eat cookie dough for breakfast. Then I told her what was in it… Are you ready to find out too?Continue Reading

National Ice Cream Month is still here, so I thought I would squeak out at least one more fun ice cream post before the end of the month. Totally taking advantage of the built in content ideas here, ya know? Yesterday we had to stop into Albertsons “real quick” to grab a few things.Continue Reading

I know it’s still summer, but back to school is closer than you think. I know a lot of us parents are counting down the days until we get our freedom and sanity back once the kids are back in school. For some of you it will the first time you’ve got a little one in school full time, and because that can be hard on both parents and kids, here’s a sweet little snack to keep them happy and thinking of you! I also added some adorable free printables so you can make these snacks extra special!Continue Reading

I participated in an Ambassador Program on behalf of Influence Central for P.A.N. Cornmeal. I received product samples as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
There is this amazing little pub near our house that serves the most delicious fried pickles you’ve ever had. My family craves them and we end up going and spending a ton of money on food just to eat this crispy, salty, tangy bites of heaven. I remember one time we were there my husband said to me, “I wish you could make these at home…” and it got the gears in my head turning. Why couldn’t I make these at home? They were just slices of pickles fried in a corn meal coating! So, I got to work…Continue Reading
