My entire life has been filled to the brim with being busy, productive and successful. It’s been ingrained in me since I was a tiny human. Do good, be good, and success will follow. Work hard. Under promise and over deliver. I am not one of those people who can just sit and wait and hope something falls into my lap. I’ve always been of the mindset that good things don’t come to those who wait, good things come to those who want something so badly that they can’t sit still.Continue Reading
The past few weeks around here have been so insanely busy that I’ve hardly had time to sit down and collect my thoughts. I promise I’ll let you in on all the busy happenings as soon as I have more information to share, but it’s pretty exciting! Since I’ve been on the go, and running around like a crazy woman, we’ve had to rely on a little bit of help from our favorite Super Heroes.
I’ve had meetings, training events, conference calls and also that little thing I call my day job – as well as caring for my family! Somehow I’ve managed to get almost all of it done! All while battling some sort of crazy hybrid cold/allergy attack! I feel like quite the super hero myself lately.Continue Reading
Up until we saw Star Wars : The Force Awakens, my daughter was deathly afraid of Chewbacca. I’m talking INSANELY afraid of a fictional character in a movie she had yet to see. She had only ever seen Chewbacca in pictures, or at Disneyland, so granted her fears were warranted if not a bit skewed. She begged me not to watch Star Wars, and even had a mini panic attack as we walked up to the movie theater as a family a month ago. She told me to cover her eyes if Chewbacca showed up on screen, and I promised I would. Then, as we settled down in our seats, with our popcorn and snacks, her little hand in a death grip with mine, the movie started.Continue Reading
I usually give you some general gift guides, but as we head into a new year I wanted to do a post on a very specific type of recipient: the little princess in your life. If you have a daughter or niece that loves all things girly, then peruse this awesome list and make the Elsa-loving gal in your life beam from ear to ear no matter the occasion.Continue Reading
Last week we took a big Disney trip! Ever since we nabbed Annual Passes in August, I’ve been planning Disney trips like crazy! I knew that we had to go in October for all the fun Halloween celebrations, so we bought some tickets to Mickey’s Halloween Party with our friends and booked a hotel for the night! Don’t worry, we’ve got a Christmas trip coming up and I will share all the fun in November!
But back to Halloween! I know it’s near the end of the season, with Halloween being on Saturday, and Mickey’s Party has been sold out for awhile, but I will definitely tell you that if you get a chance to head over and experience it next year, do so! It was so fun and such a cool change for a typical Disneyland trip.Continue Reading
Every October we make a visit to the pumpkin patch. Here in San Diego, we have a lot of options for pumpkin patches, ranging from a pop up patch in a mall parking lot, to real homegrown patches out in the country. I like to keep our pumpkin patch trips a little more “real” so we try to avoid the parking lot setups in favor of sticking to the country. We usually visit 2 different patches each year, Oma’s Pumpkin Patch in Lakeside, and Bate’s Nut Farm in Valley Center. Check out our trips to some of our San Diego Pumpkin Patches from this past week!Continue Reading
After sharing about the Talk Read Sing Campaign and our little Apple Picking Trip earlier in the week, I feel like this week is all about Abbey! I hope you don’t mind seeing her cute little face pop up on your feed, because I can’t get enough of it!
So we’re smack dab in the midst of fall (unless you ask Southern California, because we can’t seem to be able to let go of summer…) and regardless of the weather, we have been dressing the part for fall. It’s boot season! It’s time to wear leggings and dress in layers.Continue Reading
This past Sunday, Abbey and I had a mommy & me date, apple picking in Julian! It’s this adorable little town that time forgot up in the mountains, about an hour from our house. It was a hot day, but I also knew that because of the drought, apple picking season was coming to a close. A less busy and more “on it” mom, would have gone about a month ago (note to self for next year) and I forgot, and we’ve been so filled up with social engagements that this was the only day we had left.Continue Reading
I have a 4 year old. A very rambunctious, elated and energetic 4 year old. And she’s smart. Like really smart. The words and thoughts and ideas that come out of her on a daily basis astounds me. But this post isn’t meant to brag about my 4 year old’s accomplishments (though, *pat pat*). This post is meant to share the wonderful journey I have had for the past 4 years, learning how to be a parent and how to raise a awesome kid.Continue Reading
This post is sponsored by Target.
As of Tuesday of this week, both of the girls are in school. Summer break is over! It was fun while it lasted, but I am so happy it’s done and school is back in session. Since Abbey started last month, I’ve got almost a month’s worth of practice packing school lunches.
In my Pinterest decorated dreams, I was the mom who would spend hours preparing fun bento style lunches for my kids. Their friends would “Oooh!” and “Ahhhh!” over my creations and I would leave all the other mothers’ lunch making skills in the dust.
In reality, I have no bento skills and my child only eats a handful of things, making my options seriously limited.
I opted instead for creating a healthy and delicious lunch that would fuel her little body throughout the rough day of playing, arts and crafts and nap time. She’s a big “snacker” so I grabbed her favorite snacks at Target (They have an insanely delicious line of better for you snacks called “Simply Balanced“). Instead of intricate bento boxes, she gets her peanut butter and jelly sandwiches cut into fun shapes.
I always leave a note to let her know I am thinking of her too.
It’s the little things.
I have actually come to enjoy packing her lunch in the morning. She’s very outspoken about what she’s in the mood for that day, and she likes to help me pick out what she will be having. I always leave the sandwich shape a surprise for her, and she loves to tell me what it was when I pick her up at 3.
But seriously, these Simply Balanced snacks are insanely delicious, and a lot more affordable than the other snacks I had been buying for her lunch before I found them. I love that they are organic and non GMO, and Abbey loves the taste, which with a picky eater is a HUGE win in our house.
The Simply Balanced line makes my morning easier, makes lunch easier and makes life easier. Plus, I don’t have any guilt letting her grab a granola bar or fruit snack pack for an after school snack either. Don’t tell my kids, but I’ve been known to sneak a fruit rope and stash it in my purse for a yummy snack for me too.
I also snagged Abbey’s adorable little dress and boots at Target too. Can that place do anything wrong?
During the week of Sept 13-19 selected Simply Balanced items will be 30% off using Target’s Cartwheel App. So take advantage and stock up!
