The other day I got a wild hair up my ass. I was doing some sort of mundane mom task, like emptying the dishwasher, or sweeping up crushed cheese crackers, and I realized I sort of missed blogging. I missed having an outlet to share my thoughts and ideas and recipes that are actually easy, family crowd pleasers and don’t require dishes that need to soak for 4 days. I missed snapping pictures of my DIY stuff during the process of it, so I could teach another person how to do it too, verses having to knock back praise from impressed moms later, because in all honesty, it was just a little paint on cardboard and ANYONE can follow the directions. I missed the camaraderie that comes with being “a blogger”, and the fun campaigns I got to be a part of, and if I’m being 100% honest, I missed the free stuff and the cash too.Continue Reading
The internet can be a very scary, or very rewarding place at 2am. Just ask my google search results after I watch True Crime documentaries. I hope no one is seriously searching those out, because I legit look like a serial killer in training.
Truth be told, I’ve always loved True Crime. Not just “loved”, but LOOOOVEDDD. It happened back when the internet was “new” and my dad got us AOL. You remember how you used to get those CD-Roms in the mail with 200 free hours of AOL? Hook, line and sinker. I was thrust into the world wide web at 14 years of age, the wide eyed wondering of a girl on the brink of life altering wanderlust, without leaving her parents modest home office.Continue Reading
This small space on the internet has been sitting quietly for almost 2 years. That’s a pretty long time in the blogging world and today I decided to remedy that. I saw my auto payment go through on my domain and thought, “I really should fire up the ol’ blog, I sure do have a lot to talk about recently.”
Boy, do I ever…Continue Reading
I’m getting smarter in my old age. My birthday is in 4 weeks and I will be *gasp!* 35! My 30’s honestly, have been my favorite so far, so I am quite looking forward to 35. Routine has become a huge part of my life recently, I find that with it I can get a lot more done, and since my goals this year are all about FOCUS, routine has helped me immensely. Funny how that works, eh?Continue Reading
A few weeks ago we took a trip to Disneyland with 6 bodies, and clearly my 2 door coupe wasn’t going to cut it in terms of transportation. So in the interest of saving gas and parking I contacted my friends over at DriveShop and asked if they could help me out. I explained we had 3 adults and 3 kids in carseats, so we needed something roomy, and we were going to have lots of stuff (luggage, a stroller, costumes, and backpacks!) so we needed something with ample storage too. It was a big task, and to be honest, I asked a lot out of them. But you know what?Continue Reading
Last week we took a big Disney trip! Ever since we nabbed Annual Passes in August, I’ve been planning Disney trips like crazy! I knew that we had to go in October for all the fun Halloween celebrations, so we bought some tickets to Mickey’s Halloween Party with our friends and booked a hotel for the night! Don’t worry, we’ve got a Christmas trip coming up and I will share all the fun in November!
But back to Halloween! I know it’s near the end of the season, with Halloween being on Saturday, and Mickey’s Party has been sold out for awhile, but I will definitely tell you that if you get a chance to head over and experience it next year, do so! It was so fun and such a cool change for a typical Disneyland trip.Continue Reading
Every October we make a visit to the pumpkin patch. Here in San Diego, we have a lot of options for pumpkin patches, ranging from a pop up patch in a mall parking lot, to real homegrown patches out in the country. I like to keep our pumpkin patch trips a little more “real” so we try to avoid the parking lot setups in favor of sticking to the country. We usually visit 2 different patches each year, Oma’s Pumpkin Patch in Lakeside, and Bate’s Nut Farm in Valley Center. Check out our trips to some of our San Diego Pumpkin Patches from this past week!Continue Reading
After sharing about the Talk Read Sing Campaign and our little Apple Picking Trip earlier in the week, I feel like this week is all about Abbey! I hope you don’t mind seeing her cute little face pop up on your feed, because I can’t get enough of it!
So we’re smack dab in the midst of fall (unless you ask Southern California, because we can’t seem to be able to let go of summer…) and regardless of the weather, we have been dressing the part for fall. It’s boot season! It’s time to wear leggings and dress in layers.Continue Reading
This past Sunday, Abbey and I had a mommy & me date, apple picking in Julian! It’s this adorable little town that time forgot up in the mountains, about an hour from our house. It was a hot day, but I also knew that because of the drought, apple picking season was coming to a close. A less busy and more “on it” mom, would have gone about a month ago (note to self for next year) and I forgot, and we’ve been so filled up with social engagements that this was the only day we had left.Continue Reading
On October 1st, 2013, my father lost his battle with pancreatic cancer. I held his hand as he took his last breath and left this world for another. I’ve always struggled with what I believe in, what my faith is and whether or not I believe in something higher than myself. It seems rather egotistical to think we’re the highest thing in the universe and I often teeter back and forth to find a balance. My brain pulls one way and my heart another. Continue Reading
