I’ve been a frantic hot mess all day today. Why? Because I’ve been waiting on a very important phone call that I’ve been anticipating for the past 6 weeks. I can’t even tell you how I felt when that phone rang at 4:30pm this afternoon. I jumped up and screamed “The phone is ringing! This could be the call!” and my husband looked at me like I was a maniac and said “Then answer it!!”. I looked down at the phone, and swiped right.Continue Reading

The girls are going to meet Santa on Monday, so we thought we would come prepared with a list. I have always had them do the simple Santa list of 4-5 things to ask for, so this year I decided to make a printable for them to use and for me to share with you! You know I am all about the free printables!Continue Reading
Seriously y’all! It’s been crrrraaazzzy around here this holiday season! I feel like every year I have it in the bag, and yet every year Christmas sneaks up on me. You know all about how I am a DIY Christmas type of person, and even with heeding my own advice, I’m backlogged on my holiday goals. I’ve barely even remembered to move the Elf on the Shelf, let’s just say this year “Elfie” has been really tired and napping a lot.Continue Reading

When we were kids, we had a sailboat. It was my dad’s love, and we found ourselves on the boat every weekend. Whether it was to go out sailing, take a quick family vacation, or just spend time on the docks, we often found ourselves downtown at the yacht club. This was a long time ago, before downtown San Diego was the hip and swanky “Gaslamp Quarter” it is now.
I remember thinking that my life was so boring being stuck on a sailboat while all my friends were having slumber parties and hanging out at Claire’s at the mall. To my adolescent self, it felt like torture, my adult self wishes we still had that boat.Continue Reading
I am a total sucker for craft books, so when my blogger friend Amy Anderson (of Mod Podge Rocks!) published her book Washi Tape Crafts and asked if I wanted a copy to play with, I literally had no other choice but to say yes. I was so excited to get my hands on this book because I am a sucker for a roll of washi tape, and I probably have 50 or so unused rolls that I haven’t figured out what to do with yet. I think I will be making a lot of washi tape Christmas gifts this year thanks to Amy!Continue Reading
I am all about the DIY. For years and years I have been a HUGE advocate for a DIY Christmas. I love to give people thoughtful, delicious and practical gifts each year. I’ve done cookies, homemade vanilla, bacon salt, ornaments, salted caramels, homemade embroidery, you name it. I just think homemade gifts are better, because they mean something. But I know not all of us are Martha Stewart, so I’ve got some tips on how to DIY your holiday the easy way.Continue Reading
We’ve lived here for over 5 years and it’s embarrassingly sad how bare our walls still are. Neither of us had much wall art when we moved in, so our walls remained quite empty for a long time. Recently, I’ve been adding some homey touches to our walls to incorporate some color and life. I’ve done quite a bit DIY wall decor, but I’ve been looking for some really nice quality art pieces for awhile. Something we can keep for years and years, something timeless, but trendy, something that’s “us”. And I think I finally found it on Minted.com.
Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday ever. I love everything about it, from decorating my house, putting up the tree, walking through Christmas lights, making hot cocoa and especially Christmas baking. If it could be Christmas time for 2 months, I would be 100% OK with that. So while Abbey and I were out running errands today, we stopped by our local Hallmark Gold Crown store and picked up a few goodies!Continue Reading
So you read our post about Disneyland at Halloween, and you saw that adorable handmade Tinkerbell costume that Abbey wore all night, and maybe you’re wondering where I got her shoes, and how I got them to be functional AND adorable. Well I’m going to tell you, because I love you! And this wouldn’t be much of a blog if I kept those DIY secrets to myself, right?Continue Reading
In honor of Disney/Pixar’s Inside Out coming out this week, I wanted to finally get around to sharing the Inside Out party we had for Abbey’s 4th birthday, this past September. I know, I know, it’s already November! But I’ve been so swamped with real life that sometimes my digital life sometimes gets forgotten about. Forgive me?Continue Reading
