I’ve been a fan of sourdough my entire life. If I go anywhere and sourdough is a bread choice, you know that I will be picking that. Being from California, I’ve had the pleasure of trying some of the tastiest. freshest varieties of sourdough. Something about our air seems to make some of the best sourdough around. I’ve always had the ambition to catch wild yeasts and create my own sourdough starter, but with my life lately the phrase “ain’t nobody got time for that!” comes to mind more and more.
It’s been an insanely busy 2016 so far, and I’ve got a ton of stuff coming up on to the blog and in my life – remember that word of the year FOCUS? It’s already taken ahold of my life! But more on that later…
I’ve been so busy that I haven’t had much time for making new recipes, but this past week I made some delicious sourdough sandwiches and I just had to share them with you. I like said, big fan of sourdough over here!
I teamed up with San Luis Sourdough® Bread, to bring you some simple and easy recipes that you can make at home tonight for dinner, or just as a change up from your breakfast routine. San Luis Sourdough® Bread is a huge favorite around here, with its local roots, slow bake process (over 30 hours!), and delicious flavor. Recently select varieties of San Luis Sourdough joined the Non-GMO project and are now Non-GMO Project Verified! That’s just another reason to love it more! Plus it holds up really well to grilling, and makes the perfect sandwich to share!
My husband and I are HUGE sandwich fans, and every Sunday I make a big breakfast with bacon, eggs, toast, OJ – the works! But every now and then if he’s being extra sweet and I’m feeling extra nice, I’ll whip up some deliciously easy breakfast sandwiches!
- 2 large slices of San Luis Sourdough® Bread
- 2 eggs, scrambled
- 4 slices of bacon, cooked crisp
- 1 tbsp butter, softened
- 2 slices pepper jack cheese (or your favorite kind)
- Divide and spread the softened butter to the outside slice of the sandwich, and place butter down on a medium low pan to toast.
- Place the cheese on one slice of bread to begin to melt.
- Top cheese with scrambled eggs and lay bacon slices on top of eggs.
- Once bread is golden brown, place slice on top to complete sandwich.
- Transfer to a cutting board and using a sharp knife, cut in half.
The best thing about these easy sandwiches are how customizable they are. You can add pretty much anything you want and they are always a hit! Wrap them up to go and avoid the drive through in the morning!
How do you do breakfast in your house?
