Albertsons is my go to place for grocery shopping. The store employees have become our friends (we even exchanged homemade Christmas gifts last year!) and we love coming in and saying hello to everyone while we shop. They have even grown accustomed to seeing me all the time since I am in there so often buying groceries for our meals as well as all the recipes I share here on the blog. They have even started peeking into my cart, trying to guess what I will be making that day. If our conversation ends with them saying, “Well, now I’m hungry!”, I feel like I’ve done my job.
So it was no surprise to me when I was loading up the conveyor belt the other day and started getting guesses about what I was going to make. Rotisserie chicken, hot sauce, cream cheese, lots of fresh veggies, Tostitos Scoops… My mouth is watering just thinking about it again.
After a few wrong guesses, I admitted I was prepping recipe ideas for our block party for the upcoming Big Game and I was going to try a recipe for a “skinny” Buffalo Chicken Dip I had seen and I would let them know how it went.
I can say with 100% certainty, that it went extremely well.
The other night I talked with my neighbors and we’ve decided to have a “Block Party” for the Big Game. Really load up the neighborhood with lots of yummy snacks, drinks and treats! My husband is even getting excited (and if you know my husband he doesn’t do that) and he’s planning to head to Albertsons and grab a big tri tip to smoke in our BBQ for the party.
Usually when you think of “homegating” for major sporting events, you think of deep fried snacks, loaded with lots of fat and calories and deliciousness. And then you feel so “blah” later and you regret those last few chicken wings. I wanted to try something out that had all the flavor of Buffalo Wings; spicy chicken, paired with cool creamy ranch; without as much of the guilt.
I usually try to create my own recipes, but this one was too good not to share! It’s so easy to make, and if you’ve got 30 minutes, you’ll have a happy crowd!
- 1 rotisserie chicken, shredded
- 8 ounces low-fat or fat-free cream cheese
- ⅓ - ⅔ cup hot sauce (such as Frank’s®)
- 1 packet dry ranch dressing mix
- 1 cup 0% fat Greek yogurt (such as Fage®)
- Preheat oven to 350º
- In a medium bowl, mix cream cheese, ranch packet, hot sauce, and Greek yogurt until well combined. (If the cream cheese is hard to mix, microwave it for a few seconds and try again).
- Add in the shredded chicken and combine well. Pour mixture into an 8x8 baking dish, and bake for 15 - 20 minutes or until dip is hot throughout. If desired, top with sliced green onions or crumbled blue cheese and serve hot!

This dip pairs extremely well with fresh veggies with carrot sticks, bell pepper slices and celery, as well as Tostito Scoops! It makes a great alternative to heavier snacks, and tastes way more sinful than it is! The addition of Greek yogurt adds an extra bit of creaminess, and protein and at only 63 calories per 1/4 cup serving, you can go back for seconds without shame.
