I’m getting smarter in my old age. My birthday is in 4 weeks and I will be *gasp!* 35! My 30’s honestly, have been my favorite so far, so I am quite looking forward to 35. Routine has become a huge part of my life recently, I find that with it I can get a lot more done, and since my goals this year are all about FOCUS, routine has helped me immensely. Funny how that works, eh?
Every morning I get up between 6:30 & 7:30 – except on weekends when my husband and I fight to see who can sleep in longer. Spoiler alert : he usually wins. My daughter wakes me up so I no longer need to rely on alarms, just a light tapping on my arm and a small child repeating “Mom? Moooommm? Mom!” over and over. So much better… I stumble out of bed and prepare her breakfast of cereal, OJ and chocolate milk. I blindly walk over to the Keurig and make myself a cup of coffee, check my email and Facebook notifications and force myself to wake up.
Then comes my tasks for the day. Checking out my planner to see what’s due, what needs to be worked on and what plans I have made that I’ve ultimately forgot about since making them. I make school lunches where applicable and head into work if I have any clients scheduled. Sometimes I meet friends for breakfast and coffee. Other times I eat at home.
I’m too busy Monday-Friday to attempt anything other than simplicity, so I’ve started eating these Plenti Greek Yogurts from Yoplait. I’ve always been a huge fan of the idea of “Overnight Oatmeal”, but I’ve never attempted it. Maybe another day, but for now, these are great and a new favorite and staple in my fridge when I need an uncomplicated meal. Loaded with 16 grams of whole grains and 11 grams of protein, it’s a great start to my day. I finish off a cup, grab an apple on my way out the door and have breakfast handled with no effort. My kind of meal.
On days where I have somewhere to be where I need to look presentable, work or meeting a friend, I’ll spend a decent amount of time getting ready doing my hair and makeup. I’ve been getting so many compliments on my new makeup and skincare routine, I think I may need to share my secrets with you all. This is currently my favorite lip gloss – Butter Cream from Gerard Cosmetics. The color is so pretty, and even on “5 Minute Face” days, it helps me look less tired to the world.
Lastly, I can not brag more about my pretty new planner! I am such a HUGE planner nerd, and every year I get a new planner with the hopes that I was really utilize my planner for the year, but it always fizzles out. This year will (hopefully) be different! I got this adorable Heidi Swapp gold foil planner at Hobby Lobby back in December and I’ve been itching to fill it up with lots of ideas and plans and trips and fun!
