We’re Diamond Members of the San Diego Zoo, and it’s worth every penny in my opinion because my kids love it, and we go all the time. The other night we took our friends Amanda and her adorable daughter (and Abbey’s BFF) Lainie with us for some nighttime Zoo fun at this summers Shake Rattle and Roar! It’s open until September 7th, so if you get a chance, make sure you go and check out how much fun the Zoo can be at night!
This post isn’t sponsored, we just love the zoo!
Ok, so this post is going to be loaded with photos, because when you go to the Zoo, a picture is just way better than anything I could write.
One of Abbey’s favorite things to do at the Zoo is the Skyfari Sky Ride!
One of my all time favorite sites in San Diego – Balboa Park and the Bell Tower!
We took the Skyfari all the way to the top of the Zoo, and decided to hike down and see the elephants at Elephant Odyssey. And just out luck, the big lion was out in the night air! If you remember, last year he sprayed the crowd! Not this time thankfully!
The kids wanted to pose on every animal sculpture they had!
One of my favorite animals at the Elephant Odyssey are the Capybaras. They are the largest rodents in the world, making them actual live ROUS’s.
I love these tapirs too!
And obviously we need some elephants!
We headed around the back side of the zoo toward the Australian Outback that opened last year in 2014. The koalas were out and about for once. They are so cute!
It seemed like all the animals were having a nice time enjoying the cooler night air. This sentry meerkat was keeping watch over his clan. HEY TIMON HEY!
I loved seeing this mama serval with her baby cubs! So cute!
This lazy grizzly was playfully stretching as we watched. I can tell you that Smokey the Bear is way more intense in person.
The pandas were pretty much done for the evening, except for this one lounging around, showing off his rear end.
The kid’s got some souvenir pennies too!
We finished off the night by dancing to the Rock and Roar band near the front gate! I Periscoped some of their dancing, and uploaded a few clips to Instagram – totally worth the watch, cuz these kids are hilarious!
One more stop to pose with the lion… can you tell they’re over it? It was way past bedtime!
Until next time!
