With temperatures in the near 100’s in the past few days, Summer has officially arrived in San Diego! Few hairstyles scream “Summer” more than tousled carefree beachy waves, and unless you live near the ocean and are OK donning dirty, salty hair filled with ocean detritus, they seem pretty tricky to figure out. I am here to prove that myth wrong and show you that craveable mermaid hair only take a few items to master how to Create Beachy Mermaid Waves using Beach Blonde™Sea Waves™ Sea Salt Spray!
My hair tutorial is super easy – and adds a new spin on creating those perfect Beach Waves every time. I promise! All you need is a curling wand and some Texture Spray – like Beach Blonde™Sea Waves™ Sea Salt Spray!
Start by shampooing and conditioning your hair with something that will add some texture and softness. This style is all about creating an effortless wave, so infusing your hair with texture will definitely help you achieve that look a lot easier. Try Beach Blonde™ Cool Dip™ Shampoo and Beach Blonde™ Smooth Seas™ Conditioner. You can find all of these products at Walmart in the hair care aisle! And they smell AMAZING!
OK! So, once your hair is clean and towel dried, apply Beach Blonde™Sea Waves™ Sea Salt Spray generously to your hair and comb through.
Blow dry your hair until dry – don’t worry about the “salty” texture – that’s EXACTLY what we want! The sea salt infused in the product will help us create those amazing Mermaid Waves we’re looking for!
Next, clip your hair up and work in small sections. Here is where my simple technique comes in. Instead of wrapping your hair entirely around the wand, start mid shaft and only wrap around 1-3 times depending on the length of your hair. You want to create just a bend, not a curl. Leave at least an inch or two out, creating edgy, straight ends. This helps replicate the look of a natural beach wave and also cuts down on styling time!
When you drop your curl, gently pull the strand straight for 5 seconds – this allows the curl to turn into more of a tousled wave. Drop the section and continue working your way through your hair, wrapping sections, pulling the strand straight, until your entire head is done.
Rake your fingers through your hair to break up the waves, then spritz your hair a few times with the Beach Blonde™ Sea Waves™ Sea Salt Spray and scrunch, twist and fluff to create that beachy texture! There is no wrong way to do this! Just have fun! It’s supposed to look messy!
Clearly you don’t NEED blonde hair to use these products – it’s just a clever name. I mean, I have PINK hair and it works perfectly fine for me. So brunettes, raven beauties, fashion color divas and of course, blondes too – HAVE FUN!
This look is really great because the dry texture helps it last for a few days – it’s just simple and effortless! Once hair starts looking less than perfect, plait it into a fun braid, or tie it up into a messy pony tail for another day’s worth of summer hair.
