It’s AVOCADO season here in California, which means the stores are stocked to the brim with fresh, ripe, creamy California Avocados for next to nothing. I mean, sure we have avocado year round, but now is the time when you can get them for like 50 cents each, which is pretty dang cheap and begs to answer the question “What are you going to make today?”. Usually my go to is guacamole, or a turkey sandwich piled high, but I wanted something a little more sinful for my avocado craving and so I went with with California Chili Fries!
What are California Chili Fries you ask? Well they are like regular chili fries, but topped with green onions, crispy bacon and fresh creamy avocado. You might think that avocado and chili might be odd together, but honestly, avocado is pretty delicious on anything.
I started with some fries – air fried so they are healthier – and I think crispier, then topped with delcious Hormel Chili with Beans, shredded cheddar cheese, green onions, crispy bacon, and avocado!
Sometimes I prefer to make my own chili from scratch, but other times a good ol’ can of Hormel does the trick. There is just something about it that brings me back to my childhood and hanging out with my dad. I think he would have enjoyed these fries too.
These fries are great for a holiday weekend, game day, or even just a lazy Sunday afternoon – simple to whip up and a sure crowd pleaser!
