To say that my current obsession with Makeup Geek is new would be a gigantic farce, and I would be one big fat liar. In fact this love affair has been going on for just under a year, and it’s not only current, but quite alive and vibrantly healthy. If you’ve never heard of this Indie Makeup brand, that’s been called “Better than MAC” by more than one internet beauty guru, you’re in for a treat. All I can say is, when I tried these products, I never looked back and our torrid love affair is still as passionate as ever.
Summer Fling Blush – $9.99
This blush, I die. Seriously. I love coral, and this is the ultimate corally (is that a word?) pop on the cheeks. It adds gorgeous warmth, and when used with a big fluffy brush can create the perfect amount of rosy orange glow. Even though it looks harsh and orange, it’s actually very soft and buttery and blends like a dream. Perfect for sun-kissed skin!
Infatuation Blush – $9.99
Oh my lordy lordy, this blush is gorgeous. It’s sort of a pinky bronzer, and gives a fantastic tan glow to your cheeks. It’s a great one use product if you don’t want to contour AND use blush, or just want something to give you a rosy tan. And at under $10 for a super high pigmented blush, with long lasting color, you just can’t beat it.
Vegas Lights Palette – $37.99
This palette came out last year, before the holidays. I preordered it and waited with antisipation. I had already owned a few MUG shadows, so I was excited to have some exclusive colors that are only available in this palette. 5 of the 6 shades are exclusive to this palette – with Bada Bing being a part of the regular MUG shadow stock.
These colors, are so pigmented, so rich, and so buttery. My favorite color in the entire palette is Roulette, a gorgeous shimmery burnt copper shade, that is insanely amazing! The color is just UGH! You for real need to see it in person.
Foundation Stippling Brush – $17.99
Literally my favorite foundation brush ever. I use this brush every time I wear makeup to apply my foundation flawlessly. Not only is it excellently made, but it’s insanely affordable and a great dupe for the Sigma F40 brush. I used to use flat foundation brushes or sponges, but I honestly love the way this brush applies foundation so smooth and evenly.
Insomnia Pigment – $6.99
The MUG pigments are AMAZING. I love the Insomnia pigment, and it’s a perfect dupe for MAC’s Blue Brown Pigment, at a fraction of the cost. In fact a lot of the MUG Pigments are perfect dupes for MAC Pigments.
Insomnia is a chocolate duo-chrome shade with teal blue reflective shimmer. It’s gorgeous! I love the creamy consistency, and when worn with Too-Faced Glitter Glue Shadow primer, this color is insane! Pack it on with a short dense brush for the most color pay off.
Afterglow Pigment – $6.99
I love Afterglow Pigment! It’s a gorgeous champagne color. Creamy and shimmery and a beautiful, striking color for the lid! As a bonus, you can also use this pigment as a highlight on the cheeks, or brow. It’s stunning! I seriously can’t say enough good things about this color.
Peach Smoothie Eye Shadow – $5.99
Peach Smoothie is my #1 go to shadow and I don’t do any eye without it. In fact, I haven’t had it long and I’ve almost hit pan – I use it that much. It’s a soft, creamy light peachy beige, with a soft matte finish I use it all over the eye and in the crease to blend out harsh lines effortlessly.
Creme Brulee Eyeshadow – $5.99
Another one of my go to shadows! If you’re a fan of MAC’s Soft Brown, this is an amazing replacement. It’s creamy and blends out beautifully, and if you’re creating a DIY palette, this needs to be in it. It has a velvety matte finish and will help you create a stunning brown smokey eye.
Frappe Eyeshadow – $5.99
Another beautiful matte color for a neutral palette you’re building. This brown is highly pigmented with a maple undertone, and makes a gorgeous transition and crease shade. If you’re a MAC fan, this is very similar to Texture.
Cocoa Bear Eyeshadow – $5.99
Seriously my favorite matte brown crease shade for a simple day time smokey eye. I wear this color almost every day! It’s so soft and buttery! It’s like the perfect reddish medium brown color. It’s very similar to Swiss Chocolate by MAC, but with a more red undertone. A must have.
In the Spotlight Foiled Eyeshadow – $9.99
Oh! These foiled shadows. OMG guys! For real. This color is INSANE. It’s a beautiful soft pale pink with peachy undertones. It’s got AMAZING shine and shimmer, and even without primer it’s beautiful and highly pigmented. It’s a cross between cream and powder shadow and with one sweep it’s applied effortlessly. It’s probably my favorite MUG shadow of all time and you need to buy this immediately.
Grandstand Foiled Eyeshadow – $9.99
My second favorite of the current Foiled Shadows that I own (the next 10 are headed this way, wait for that haul post!). This shadow is a gorgeous medium rose gold color. And you KNOW how much I love Rose Gold! These shadows are so amazingly insane, the pigmentation on them is stunning, y’all. STUNNING. I don’t even know how they do it, but it’s crazy. Check out a few of the swatches below if you don’t believe me!
So there you go, my Top Makeup Geek products that I love and can’t live without. It was INSANELY hard just picking a few favorites, because honestly, every Makeup Geek product I have bought since 2014 has been exceptionally beautiful. If you’re looking to up your makeup game, build up your MUA kit, or just add something new, these are the best products for your buck. I 100% believe that, without any sort of sponsorship or endorsement, but you know, if Marlena and the amazing people behind MUG are reading this and wanna send some swag my way, I wouldn’t say no. 😉
All the shadow and blush pans fit perfectly into the Z Palette, which can be ordered on MakeupGeek.com. I highly recommend these, and they are the exclusive palettes I use.
