Happy Easter Lovelies! I hope you are enjoying today with your families and friends and those you love! Today’s Current Obsession is something near and dear to my own heart today : EASTER CANDY!
It is widely known, throughout the land, that Easter Candy is the most superior of all holiday candies. And if you did not know, then now you do. Something about egg and bunny shaped candy just beats out tree shape and pumpkin shape any day. So while everyone is quietly enjoying their egg hunts this morning, and the lovely Church services, and those all glittered up for Easter, I will be sitting on my couch, with a basket in my lap, hoarding ALLLLL THE CANDIES!
The Heisman Trophy of Easter Candies – or whatever like, the candy equivalent of being the best is. Cadbury Creme Eggs are by far the most superior Easter candy of them all. When I see Cadbudy Eggs on the grocery shelves in January – while most people are SHOCKED and APPALLED that Easter is already rearing it’s head before Valentine’s Day… I am secretly happy for the next 4 months of Cadbury Creme Egg deliciousness. True Story.
I love those Lindt commercials, where they are just like pouring chocolate over and over and talking about how hard it is to pour chocolate and how Lindt is master chocolatiers and it’s the best and stuff. You know the ones? Well they are right! Amazingly smooth and creamy and delicious and there is no way ever that I will share the ears or the tail. It’s just not going to happen. My Gold Bunny! Mine!
Oh, the Reese’s Egg. Peanut Buttery perfection in a classic Easter Egg shape. What is it about egg shapes that make this taste way better than a normal Reese’s Cup? Because Reese’s Egg is the ultimate in Reese’s confections. I’m not even gonna lie.
Chocolate Malted Milk Balls, encased in pastel speckled goodness. What is it about Robin’s Eggs that I love? Nostalgia? Seasonal supply and demand? The pink ones? I have no idea. I just love them. I love them so so so much and I cannot tell you why. I just do. They make my Easter complete.
This confection right here, from the chocolate company See’s, is my ultimate favorite Easter thing of all time. When I was a kid, my mom used to get us one for our baskets every year! Even up until I was like 23, I was still getting the See’s Chocolate Butter Egg with Walnuts. I don’t care much for the royal icing, but the chocolate is quite dandy. Who needs an Easter Ham, when you’ve got a Chocolate Butter Egg?
These jellybeans blow all other jellybeans away! My mom used to always buy Jelly Belly beans, but then you get stuck with horrible flavors like licorice and buttered popcorn. I like to stick to these, because it’s just pure delicious intense flavors of yum.
Normally I am not a huge Sweetarts fan, but for some reason, when it comes time for Easter and the Chicks, Ducks & Bunnies come out, I just have to indulge! I will say that I miss the time when there were yellow – because LEMON is the best flavor, and LIME is a close second. And now green is apple and not lime and that angers me as a candy loving adult. And why does blue mean raspberry?
I love these because they are tasty and they look like umbrellas for some crazy reason. Plus, hazelnut. Lindt win’s again, because I love expensive chocolate. Nothing compares. Plus these are always super cute in an Easter Basket, and I love to make the baskets look cute and festive. Carrots are totally an Easter staple.
What are your favorite Easter candies? What did you get in your baskets this year?
