Ahh! Today is the day! I am finally getting my Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy! That’s the super fancy medical way of saying I am getting my gallbladder out today. And even though I am only staying one night, and it’s not a huge deal, I know everyone likes to get a peak of what is inside everyone’s bag at any given time. So I decided to indulge everyone. Check it out.
So I laid everything out last night, sorry for crummy nighttime quality photos, but I do what I can with what I have at this point. My surgery is typically an “out patient surgery” which basically means you’re in the hospital for less than 24 hours. Because I have a bleeding disorder, and because my surgery is at 1:30pm, I will be staying the night – I guess they don’t typically release people at 3am. Go figure.
So I was told by the nurses not to bring anything really, but my wallet (ID, insurance card, form of payment etc), but I was told by my surgeon I would be staying the night, so I packed a bag. “Nothing of value” is what I was told to pack, so I left all my rings, jewelry and laptop at home. In a perfect world, I would live blog and tweet/IG this entire process, but clearly I need to be put under and take a small vacation from the outside world.
I will however be bringing some basic toiletries (toothpaste, deodorant, mouthwash etc), my tablet and reading material – it’s the book club book! As well as my meds, just in case, but I assume at a hospital that they will have all the good stuff regardless. I’ll post more about the actual surgery and my recovery once I get home.
I also am wearing some super comfy yoga pants to the hospital, as well as a Fabletics sports bra (seriously the BEST, I LOVE IT!) and a Target tank, plus my Lululemon braided headband, cuz who knows what my lions mane might do! I was told to dress comfy, so here I am. I brought some leggings and an extra tank to wear home, but they are more form fitting, so we shall see what I prefer tomorrow.
My phone is coming for obvious reasons. I will be updating when I wake up, as well as answering comments, texts and calls from people throughout my stay. Therefore, the charger is also packed with me.
Everything is thrown into a Thirty-One Weekener in Grey Dot.
