So yesterday I was released from the hospital after my gallbladder surgery… more on that whole deal a little later – I can only sit and blog for so long until I start to get tired and need a rest. Granted I might not have many guests stopping by to see my right now, but today was the first day I got to shower, and so I was so excited to be clean and start to feel slightly better and I decided to put on some makeup and give myself a mini makeover using my new Victoria Jackson Cosmetics!
I posted some shots of me on IG a few weeks ago when I got my awesome swag in the mail, and I shared pics of me wearing it, but I never got around to sharing on a blog post, because, well I’ve been pretty busy, what with the getting ready for major surgery and all! But I will say that after just putting a bit of makeup on today, I have felt so much better physically and visually… I mean, it’s hard to walk into the bathroom with a big mirror and see yourself all cut and bandaged up. It does something to your sense of self a bit. And I wanted to look better – less post op, and more “I got this!”.
With these products, I also used a few of my favorite brushes for application. You can use what you like, I used a Beauty Blender Sponge, a bronzing brush, a tapered foundation brush, a flat detailer and a fluffy blending brush.
I started by applying moisturizer and then using the darker of the two colors in the foundation duo, applying all over my face with the tapered foundation brush.
My poor nose! Ack! I have NO IDEA what’s been going on there for now over a year, but this foundation covers it perfectly and doesn’t cause me anymore breakouts. So for that I love it!
Then using the lighter of the 2 colors in the duo, I very simply highlighted my face using my Beauty Blender sponge.
Using a big fluffy bronzing brush, I hit the hollows of my cheeks, the top of my forehead, and under my chin, for a simple, basic contour.
I then used an eyeshadow brush to lightly dust my eyelids with the same bronzing powder, to just add slight definition and depth, and blended that out with a fluffy blending brush.
Using the flat definer brush, I touched up my eyebrows to give them a bit of definition, and color.
I love using one product for multiple uses and the Here Comes the Sun Bronzing Powder in Medium by Victoria Jackson Cosmetics is a great product for that. The color is a beautiful brown, and not at all orangey, so it works great for not only face, but lids and brows as well.
Next I dusted the apples of my cheeks with the Perfect Everyday Blush. Using a bit of chap stick, I even dusted some Everyday Perfect Blush onto my lips to create a complimentary lipstick! Another double whammy product! This color also looks beautiful as an eye shadow as well!
I followed up with two coats of the Lush Mascara – I LOVE this mascara, it’s light and creates a beautiful fluffy lash that’s very natural looking and not at all clumpy.
And that’s my easy, 4 product finished look!
I took my hair down… ahh… freshly washed hair… and looked like I totally didn’t just have surgery two days ago, aside from my super sweet hospital gown! Right?
My pain meds also make it easy to smile when I am not feeling all the pain in my side! I am just glad to be home, in the hospital they like to wake you up every few hours and poke you, take blood, check vitals, it makes it hard to get any real rest.
Here at home, Nurse Husband is really kicking butt and helping me rest, and bringing me pudding when I ask. We have a nice system, where I send him my food orders via text and when I wake up he brings me all the things. He’s a good sport, as much as I rib him and tease him, he’s a great husband who has been so super helpful these past few days.
I do enjoy looking alive again with this gorgeous makeup though! Use code LOVEVJC at checkout to get 25% off your entire purchase! Valid until 4/4/15
So here is my before and after and I can’t even believe I am going to post this on the blog, and then I am sure I will get messages from friends telling me they saw it all over Pinterest… but here we go… I gotta be real when I have a blog…
