So honestly? This is the first time I’ve ever done one of these, but two weeks ago for my mom’s birthday we took her to dinner and to see Wicked, and I just loved my outfit and everything and I wanted to share my experience with the show. It wasn’t what I wore *THIS* Wednesday, but it was a Wednesday and I am a bit of an anarchist (just kidding). Anyway…
You don’t even wanna see what I wore today, it’s been rainy, so it’s all mom sweats and workout hoodies over here. But on this day? I looked the part.
Can we just start off on how fierce that red lipstick is? My favorite red of all time MAC Viva Glam I. Am-MAH-zing. And some matte Makeup Geek Shadows to add a bit and clearly some thick black cat eye liner. Purrrrfect.
Those darling pearl earrings from Pearl & Clasp, a luxury pearl company that prides itself in creating and selling, “Not your grandma’s pearls.” and they are my new favorite go to for studs right now. Can I just say I love them? The quality is fantastic, as is the price. For real, they seriously jazz up everything, and because I was going for such a simple and classic look (I was heading to the theater for crying out loud!) they were the perfect cherry on top. So a huge thanks to Pearl&Clasp for the lovely earrings. I seriously cannot reccomend these enough to people looking for nice and affordable jewelry. I am big into earrings right now, and these guys are on me at least 4 days a week. They jazz up jeans and a tee for the store, and just accent everything with a classy touch. Very very very much impressed with the quality and craftsmanship! I am wearing the white ones, but they also come in pink and black as well. A great stocking stuffer for those classy ladies on your list.
For my hair, I did the Vintage Waves in my Holiday Hair Looks post. Easy, peasy.
How cute is my little pregnant sister?! I wore this adorable (and super comft) Black and Brown striped sweater dress from Target, with black opaque tights and some slouchy boots – it had been raining all day! My necklace is a rose gold chain from Origami Owl’s CORE collection. Super customizeable and super cute. The star of the night, my caplet, is vintage from Scotland – how fancy is that? I grabbed it in this little tiny resale shop in LA about 10 years ago, and since it’s super warm wool, and bright red, I only get to wear it a few times a year. The theater is definitely somewhere it deserved to be seen.
My bright red purse is from JustFab, and I love it! It’s one of my favorite purses right now, and you can’t beat the price. I really wear my purses into the ground, and this one has held up fabulously. Plus it was only $40. Huzzah! Maybe when I am not toting around face wipes, toys and snacks in my purse, I’ll splurge and get myself something fancy again, but for now, these purses are on point.
So on to the show itself. WICKED! WICKED!!!! Oh em gee guys, for real. I LOVE live theater and have seen a lot of live shows over the year (and 8 on Broadway in NYC – lucky me!) – and this replaces Chicago for favorite musical and I saw Chicago ON BROADWAY with Bebe Newirth right after she won the TONY in ’99 for crying out loud! AMAZING. If you love musicals, or the Wizard of OZ, I HIGHLY recommend this show! It’s just so fun, and I’ve loved the music for years and to finally get to see it live – when Elphaba sings “Defying Gravity” and flies into the air AHH! – it brought tears to my eyes. I’m a total theater geek – sue me! And our seats! Oh our seats, can I just boast a little more?
OK so TECHNICALLY you’re not supposed to take photos in the theater – which is way all my shots are on my camera – you know they weren’t going to let me in with my DSLR, so I had to sneak a few with my iPhone when no one was looking at me… But front and center in the first mezzanine is pretty rad. HUGE thank you to my sister Katie for getting us these tickets, because she did a great job of picking out seats.
Anyway, enough about that night! It was just super fun and I know a lot of you like to read about other stuff besides food and beauty and crafts and these little posts are just fun!
A HUGE thanks to Pearl&Clasp again for the beautiful earrings and letting me share them on my blog!
