This past week has been really up and down for me. I got some bad news at the beginning of the week, and then spent the remainder of the week taking it all in. It’s been rough. I am totally a stress eater. When my dad was sick, we ate a lot of fast food because we didn’t have time to prepare and cook and clean and fast food was easier for everyone. I don’t like going that route, besides the obvious negative health effects, it’s expensive! Between trekking the kids back and forth to play dates, parties, swim lessons and grandmas house, we’re in the car and on the go A LOT. I need on the go snacks too!
I always pack snacks for the kids, but sometimes I forget about me! I’d rather not eat an applesauce pouch, or pack of fruit snacks, so I make sure that I always pack myself something to get me through the day, so I don’t have to pull over and swing through the drive through.
The last time I was at Walmart, buying cereal for the girls, I was checking out the breakfast bars and saw the Life Choice bars. Seriously I would have never even known they were there had I not stumbled upon them.
I was so excited to find something yummy, that I could easily toss into my bag, that kept me feeling full and energized.
So Monday, my cousin Matthew got married and we had big family BBQ at my aunts house for all of us to get together and hang out. I went early to help out, so I knew that I would get hungry waiting around until it was time to actually eat. I got all dolled up and packed my bag with my wedding essentials. Makeup minis for touch ups, sunglasses and my iPhone. Can’t forget my lifeline!
And of course I could NOT forget my Life Choice bar, because I did not need to be cruising up to a wedding with a paper bag of cheeseburgers. I knew we would be eventually eating, but I had no idea when. Having that bar in my bag helped me beat the middle of the day slump before the buffet started.
The BBQ was so fun! And I was so excited to see all my family I don’t get to see often!
Of course Abbey had a blast making fruit kebobs and playing with cousins she didn’t even know she had. Have I mentioned that my dad was 1 of 6? We’ve got LOTS of cousins!
And I got to see my cousin Gibby (who I haven’t seen in at least 10 years) and meet his adorable girlfriend!
We didn’t even eat dinner until 4, so thankfully I had my Life Choice bar, because I started getting hangry. Nothing is worse than that. The bar is a nutritious option, loaded with 8 grams of protein and 4 grams of fiber! Plus, when it was time to eat, I didn’t gorge myself on pulled pork because I was starved.
It really was a fantastic day, and I am so glad for family, and so happy for my “baby” cousin Matthew and his new wife Ana! Congrats guys!
