My stepdaughter is OBSESSED with Rainbow Loom. We even DIY’d her some Valentine’s this year. I am happy to report that even though this is a pretty expensive hobby, she’s not currently in any street gangs. I owe the rubber band industry a huge thanks for that.
I am always on the look out for less expensive ways for her to enjoy this hobby, I mean she is making bracelets left and right and giving them away to all of her friends. The small bags you can get at the craft stores run a few bucks, unless you stock up when they are on sale. She goes through bands like nobodies business. I am happy she’s got a great hobby (especially a crafting one!) but, man! The costs are sky rocketing.
Then I saw the 7200 Band MEGA Loom Band Refill Set from Rainbow Braid on Amazon and angels sang. (Have I mentioned lately how much I LOVE Amazon? Cuz I really do.) Seven Thousand Two Hundred rubber bands, in literally every color you could ever imagine. My daughter freaked out, her mind was blown when we opened the box. She read the text on the bag;
Audrey: “Seven THOUSAND?”
Me: “Pretty rad, right?”
Audrey: “Seriously?…. That’s a lot of bracelets…”
She’s in the really dramatic valley girl accent phase which is equal parts funny and also nerve wracking. Needless to say, my kid was in Rainbow Loom heaven.
The pack even includes glow in the dark bands, so obviously we ran into the bathroom, turned off the lights and went “Oooooooooohh!”.
The entire weekend she made all sorts of bracelets for all of her friends. She opened each bag and organized them all into their own color coordinated cubicles. I didn’t see her unless it was feeding time. Her first project was a Creeper bracelet from Minecraft.
She even made a bracelet menu, and took orders from anyone she came across. Me, her sister, her grandma, even her dad ordered bracelets. She’s mentioned wanting to open a Rainbow Loom stand on the side of the road… we’ll see about that, little entrepreneur.
The quality of these bands are fantastic. Just as good as any other brand of bands I’ve bought her that cost way more. Plus these came with TONS of “S” clips and some beads as well. I can’t even wrap my head around all the colors. I haven’t even seen this many colors at the craft stores. We are definitely full stock on pretty much anything you could buy. And all these bands are under $30! That’s my favorite part, because how cool would I be to order these huge packs as birthday gifts? Pretty much the coolest ever.
I know the end of the school year is approaching, and a lot of your kids are graduating from elementary school. This is the PERFECT grad gift for your crafty kids. Amazing price, fantastic quality, and so many bands that you might never have to buy any ever again (who am I kidding?). Plus, it will give them something to do with all that free time they’ll have, and you know after a week off school they are going to be saying, “I’m boorrrreddd…” Problem solved!
Do your kids Rainbow Loom? Are these rubber bands something you would try?
