A few weeks ago, I posted about the new Summer stuff coming to Dollar Tree and I mentioned their Flip Flop craft contest.
I decided to enter, and being that I am not one for the normal, easy stuff, decided to make a Flip Flop Wreath!
I love my Spring Wreath that’s been on my front door, but it’s almost Summer, so I decided I needed a refresh!
This wreath is so easy and literally cost me $7.
If you want to make one too, head to your nearest Dollar Tree and pick up the following items.
- 1 pool noodle
- 4 pairs of small flip flops (mine were size S 10/11)
- duct tape
Start by making a wreath using the pool noodle and duct tape. It’s easier to use small pieces of duct tape to tape the pool noodle together.
Now we need to cover up that tape! I used pink satin ribbon, and wrapped it around, gluing down in increments, so it doesn’t slip.
Next, arrange your flip flops on the wreath, to get a good idea about where you want each one to go.
I found that using all the left flip flops for the left side and all the right flip flops for the right side worked best, but by all means do what works best for you!
Now, glue down each flip flop with hot glue. Be careful using the hot glue gun around the pool noodle because you can melt it pretty easy. Slowly glue each flip flop down, letting it dry between adding new pieces so they don’t slip around. When you’re all done and everything is dry, go in and double check any areas that need more glue, and add it where it needs it.
Make sure your ribbon is nice and secure, and tie a big bow to hang it on your door!
Done! Easy, right? Feel free to add extra elements, like follows, a banner, or any other thing you might epitomize summer for you!
Hang it on your door and enjoy the compliments from the neighbors!
What would you make for a flip flop craft?
