Recently, I received a box of Pine Bros Softish Throat Drops to try and review for the blog. They seriously could not have come at a better time.
You see, the rest of the US is stuck under snow, but here in San Diego, it was 78 today, and dry, and windy, and gross.
This is not the “winter” I signed up for, people!
Regardless, the weather has made my throat, scratchy, itchy, gross. Not cool, man.
So when I got a box of these the other day, I thought “Awesome! Just what I need!”
I totally love these little guys! The company itself has been around since 1870, which really should speak volumes about the product without me having to go much farther into it, but I will.
I had never tried Pine Bros before, although I will admit to seeing them in the store. I guess I’ve always gone “less natural” routes when it comes to cough medicine. These are more of a throat and mouth soothing lozenge, and have no tingly or numbing feeling when you use them, which I really like.
I received the Wild Cherry variety, but they also come in Black Licorice and Honey flavors. The taste is subtle, without being overpowering, and very pleasant. I enjoy that they don’t taste artificial or like “candy”, but still don’t taste medicinal. Does that make sense? They are free of dyes and naturally colored with elderberry juice! LOVE IT!
The texture of the drops are really interesting. They aren’t kidding when they call them “softish”. That’s really what they are! Not hard like traditional cough drops, (so they don’t cut up the roof of your mouth) but not as chewy as say, a gummy bear. They are more along the lines of the same texture as a dot, or a jujube. The do contain sugar, but barely any as each drop is just 5 calories. And they are safe for kids 3 and up, which is awesome since most remedies exclude the little ones.
Just to be sure I wasn’t just overly excited about the product, I had some of my friends try them too. Huge hit. They couldn’t get enough of them, and we’re popping them like candy, so I guess they enjoyed the taste as much as I do.
All in all a great product, that I totally and honestly recommend to anyone looking for a more natural alternative to cough suppressants.
Have you ever tried Pine Bros before? Did you enjoy them? Will you give them a try now? Let me know in the comments below! Stay healthy!
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
